A student’s view of the medicine clerkship
over my med body! ยป Medicine Wrap-Up. A third-year medical student expounds on his experience with the internal medicine clerkship. I must say, his observations have the ring of authenticity. Surveys of our own medical students show that they like the internal medicine clerkship, they feel they learn a lot, they respect the faculty, but most of them don’t want to become internists. Typical reasons involve the lifestyle (too many hours and too unpredictable), the pay (not enough), and a perception that the field is overwhelmingly complex.
